RESOURCES
The Library offers books to students in the following sections:

• Junior Fiction
• Fiction
• Non-Fiction
• Junior Non-fiction
• Reference
Within the Fiction section are Series books that provide popular reading, and transitional material between Junior Fiction and Fiction.
There are also book/cassette kits for children to borrow.
During third break, games are available for use.
SERVICES
The library provides "bulk loans" of resources to teachers to support their themes each term. Many of these books are available for students to borrow from the classroom. The Library also supports teachers’ themes in Stages Two and Three, and explores junior fiction with Stage One during Library lessons.
The library is open during third break. Students may watch a video, play a game, use the computers, construct a jigsaw puzzle, or read and borrow books. Occasional activities are conducted, and guidance is available in choosing suitable resources.
LOANS PROCEDURES
Children may borrow during their weekly class borrowing time, or at third break, and before and after school.
They need to put any returning items on the front desk before going to choose.
Having chosen, they bring new items to the front desk, OUT of their library bag! and preferably with the library barcode facing up.
Students have a barcode next to their name in the Borrowers Book. They may be asked to find their name in the book, or tell the librarian their name.

LIBRARY RULES
Borrowing Each child may borrow 2 items for a maximum of two weeks (with occasional exceptions such as Reference Books for one night).
Overdue notices (Weekly)
Overdue notices are usually distributed to the classroom teacher weekly
- If books are not returned, a letter is sent, or a telephone call made, to parents/guardians notiviying them of replacement costs.
- If a child leaves the school with ourstanding books, a letter is sent to the new school, notifying the Librarian of this issue.
All children in Stage One must use library bags to protect their loans. The best type is fabric drawstring. The school sells bags that are sturdy and display the school logo.
Behaviour No food or drinks are to be brought into the library. Students are expected to behave with decorum – reasonably quiet and calm, so that other library users can concentrate and not be disturbed.
